An Insider’s View of Holidaying in Yalikavak

If you have never been to Turkey before the thought of leaving Europe and trying an unknown country may be quite daunting. That’s why we sent ‘our man in Turkey’ off to gather some very useful information about Yalikavak which is one of our most popular resorts on the Bodrum Peninsula.  With an Insider’s view of Holidaying in Yalikavak you will not only have a carefree holiday, you’ll also know all the best places to go.  You’ll be feeling like a local in no time…

“Self catering holidays are always a bit risky if you don’t know what kind of food is on offer in your chosen destination.  Worry not, if you’re travelling to Yalikavak with children or even grown up fussy eaters doing the grocery shopping is a doddle.  There are 3 Migros Hypermarkets (one on the Yalikavak to Torba road, one in the Palmarina and one on the road to Gumusluk just down the road from the ever popular Yalikavak Holiday Gardens Resort) that are now stocking UK baby products such as Aptamil etc.  So there’s no need to bring masses of supplies over from the UK.  Also with the opening of the new Kipa/Tesco Supermarket on the Yalikavak to Torba road, the choice of foods are much wider, you can now even have a fry up with real bacon and Heinz baked beans! The new Macrocentre right in the middle of Yalikavak is Turkey’s answer to Waitrose with a really good choice of quality foods and again a good range of the familiar brands.  All this helps to make a self catering holiday in and around Yalikavak both easy and familiar.

“Now for a well kept secret…You can experience the best lunch, bar none, at the “Chicken Shack” on the sand crusted beach that is situated round the headland just past the Zuma beach complex. Follow the signs for Zuma beach then carry on round the headland to drop down to the car park and the beach. The water  is fantastic for swimming and the views back across to Yalikavak are amazing but best of all is the food at the little beach hut we have lovingly named the “Chicken Shack”. Friends we’ve taken there just cannot get enough of the food and laid back atmosphere. Choose from freshly caught fish of the day, meatballs or chicken kebabs (you can’t get more free range than here, the chickens run loose – you can see them cringe when someone orders a kebab!), fantastic fresh salads and the best chips you have ever tasted.  Don’t be put off by the rustic appearance, we have eaten here numerous times and can guarantee the freshness and quality of the food.  Definitely one of Yalikavak’s best kept secrets which all adds to the charm. Just don’t go if you are in a rush; laid back and chilled out is definitely the order of the day.”

“Late afternoon/ early evening as the sun begins to lose its heat is a fantastic time to try your hand at the watersports on offer at the Yalikavak Watersport Centre just along the promenade from the 3 Brothers restaurant.  Windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing etc are all available to try here with instructors on hand to help out if needed, and for those who’d rather watch than participate what better way to watch the sun go down in one of many bars which line the beach with a nice cool glass of whatever takes your fancy.   A perfect way to either burn off some energy, or relax before the serious business of deciding where to eat later on!”

Yalikavak is a stunning resort with great facilities, friendly locals and a laid back atmosphere.  If you have never been to Turkey (or even if you have!) you will be bowled over by this resort.  I guarantee you’ll want to come back again!  Check out our fabulous choice of villas and apartments in Yalikavak now and get your trip booked!
