Cuisine
Mijas has its own regional cuisine style, with well-known and delicious dishes like garlic soup, Ccachorreñas (potatoes, cod and “cachorreña” orange juice), Maimones (bread, garlic and oil) and its own version of tomato soup. You also must try the famous Gazpachuelo, a soup of potatoes, bread and mayonnaise. However, Mijas also has several quality Indian, Thai and Nepalese restaurants.
Mirlo Blanco Restarante

The Mirlo Blanco restaurant is one of the most famous places to eat in Mijas. It specialises in Pais vasco food. The location is central and it has a beautiful terrace overlooking one of the main plazas. Mirlo serves fantastic steaks, grilled fish and some less popular tripe and pig’s trotters if you fancy something slightly different. If you have enough room for dessert, the Grand Marnier based soufflé is fantastic and enough for 2-3 people. Open 13:00-15:45 & 20:00-23:00.

Located above the town, you can walk up the long staircase or take the private elevator to this excellent restaurant. The menu is quite varied with several fish and meat dishes and they have an excellent selection of wines. The restaurant has a reputation for being quite formal, so if this isn’t your thing, then it’s probably better for you to try somewhere else. El Padrastro is the most popular venue for weddings in Mijas pueblo.

The Tamisa restaurant is a charming family-run restaurant located centrally in Mijas village. The menu consists predominantly of excellent Mediterranean dishes, and it specialises in seafood and meat, all at very reasonable prices. They also have an excellent selection of wines and the barbecue is located in front of the restaurant so you can watch your meal being cooked.
Molino del Cura

Molino del Cura is a beautiful Thai restaurant located 500 metres from the entrance to Mijas village. With a very extensive menu of dishes from northern, central and southern Thailand and optional set menus for both lunch and dinner, this is very popular restaurant.

La Alcazaba restaurant has some of the best views of the coast as well as one of the most extensive menus available. Prices are more expensive than most other restaurants in the village; however it is very popular for special occasions such as New Year’s Eve and birthdays.

Situated on the corner of the main plaza, Los Arcos restaurant is aimed mainly at tourists. The menu has mainly Spanish and local regional dishes, all reasonable priced and the quality of food is generally good although the menu selection is unfortunately limited. It’s worth noting that the menu prices do not include taxes.
The Village Inn & Northern Indian Tandoori

Half-English Bar, half-Indian restaurant, the Village Inn is popular for English residents and visitors to Mijas. Situated in the centre of Mijas village, the restaurant serves very good Indian eat-in and take-away food.
Asador Pollos

The only chicken shop in Mijas: in fact the only true take away in Mijas. Run by Angel and Sandra, their chickens can sell out fast along with their homemade croquettes, ribs, stew, chicken pies and salads. Although not strictly a restaurant, it’s still well worth a visit. There are a few tables outside the shop if you prefer to eat-in, and there are also a small selection of wines and beers available.
