When you arrive at the airport and your bags are checked in this really is the start of your holiday. Normal time ceases to exist and you can really relax and get into the holiday mood. We have compiled our Top 5 Things to do at the Airport. How many of these will you partake in?
1. Eat a Full English Breakfast
Eating a big breakfast at the airport, whatever time of day you fly, is pretty much standard practice. The bacon may be dry, the eggs overdone and the sausages on the cheap side but it’s the start of your holiday and you are going to eat the unhealthiest thing you can get your hands on. For those that cannot stomach a full English at 3pm in the afternoon a burger, pizza or any other fat laden meal may suffice. You need to feed yourself up and lets; face it, anything is better than paying £15 for a meal on the plane.
2. Have Your First ‘Holiday Drink’
Whilst we don’t condone getting stuck into the alcohol at the airport, holidays are not quite the same without that first pint of beer, glass of wine or G&T to kick start your relaxation. You have checked your bags in, got through the security gauntlet and now you really do deserve to sit and enjoy a drink with no worries on your mind.
3. Treat Yourself in Duty Free
Ordinarily spending £70 on a bottle of perfume just for the hell of it would not be something you would do. However, you are off on holiday, you want to smell nice and it’s £5 cheaper than in the shops at home so why not? You could also really do with new sunglasses, a watch and some luxurious face cream. Money spent in the airport doesn’t count does it?
4. Buy Millions of Magazines
You have not bought a magazine for weeks, you have avoided reading them on your pre-holiday trip to the hairdressers so now you are at the airport you can stock up on all the magazines you want and digest as much celebrity gossip as is humanly possible on a 3 hour flight. You may also want to treat yourself to some of those magazines with headlines such as ‘I Married a Goat and it ran off with my Sister’ to keep you entertained.
5. People Watch
This is always good fun and it costs nothing too (which is a relief after the earlier duty free splurge.) You can play games like ‘Where do you think they are flying to?’, ‘Who is wearing the most ridiculous travelling outfit?’ and ‘Who would I least like to be sitting next to on the plane?’ It kills the time before you board nicely.
