Location of Veranda Palms
Veranda Palms is located just off Highway 192 in Kissimmee. It is around 30 minutes’ drive from Orlando International Airport and an hour from Sanford Airport. The closest of the Disney parks is Epcot which is around 15 minutes’ drive away. The resort is very easy to find, just off ‘Seven Dwarfs Lane.’ It is in the perfect location for shopping malls, restaurants, and huge Wallmart and Super Target Supermarkets. Whilst being close to all amenities and attractions, it is also nice and quiet due to its proximity to the Shingle Creek Nature Reserve just behind it.
Accommodation
Veranda Palms is a brand new resort with high quality 4, 5 and 6 bed private homes with pools. There are various styles of villas but all have high spec kitchens, good sized living areas with high ceilings, great sized bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and pool decks with private pools. Many of the villas also have private Jacuzzi spas and games rooms. The villas have well maintained gardens and fencing for privacy in most cases. There is plenty of driveway parking with each home.
Facilities on the Veranda Palms Resort
Veranda Palms is a gated community with coded entry at the main gate and for each home. There is a gatehouse at the entrance as well to ensure your security.
The villas on Veranda Palms have been built around natural lakes and dense woodland so you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside, rather than in the middle of a busy holiday resort.
The brand new clubhouse opened in August 2017 offering guests a large communal pool; kids pools and waterslides; gym and lounge. This is a great place to relax with the family.
Nearby Activities
If you enjoy the great outdoors and nature you will love the ‘Shingle Creek National Park’ that is adjacent to the resort. There are pathways through the park that are perfect for jogging or walking; there are children’s play areas and also plans for kayaks to be hired for those wanting to get onto the water.
There is an abundance of wildlife in Shingle Creek including American Bald Eagles, Alligators (don’t worry these are very shy!), deer, herons and wild boars. Keep your binoculars handy if you like bird watching!
Veranda Palms is extremely well located for the parks too. You can reach most of the parks within 20 to 30 minutes and Epcot is so close you can hear the nightly fireworks display!
Some other activities you may want to try out that are very close by are the ‘Congo River Crazy Golf’ which is just around the corner on the 192. This is a fun way to while away an hour and you can also feed the native baby alligators that live in the ‘Congo.’
There are plenty of activities on offer in Kissimmee. If you fancy going on a horse trek ‘Horse World’ is around 25 minutes’ away and they can cater for all levels of riding ability. Aquatic Airboat Tours is a great way to spend an afternoon flying around the water on an airboat at high speed and spotting huge alligators. This is only about 15 minutes’ drive from Veranda Palms.
The Medieval Times Dinner and Show is just around the corner and if you want a slightly different evening out this is the place to go! You can enjoy a ‘royal feast’ while you watch knights jousting and sword fighting in the show in front of you. Kids will love it and it is pretty entertaining for adults too.
There is no shortage of restaurants close to Veranda Palms. Within walking distance of the resort there is an Applebees, Wendy’s and a Waffle House. Within 5 to 10 minutes there are numerous other diners and restaurants serving everything from burgers to Chinese. You will be spoiled for choice!
For something completely different try the Kissimmee Rodeo and spend an evening watching cowboys riding bulls and lassoing horses.
Tips
Go there if: You want to stay in a modern villa with more than just the parks on your doorstep. Veranda Palms is the best of both worlds; a quiet resort surrounded by countryside but right in the middle of all the attractions if you want them.
Avoid if: You want to be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of hectic Disney Resorts. Veranda Palms is located around 15 to 20 minutes drive away; so it doesn’t have the constant buzz of International Drive; it’s the perfect place to relax!
