Although Yalikavak has numerous excellent bars and restaurants, for a real all rounder with consistently high standards you really can’t beat the ever popular Kösede Restaurant and Bar. Perfectly situated in a central position on the seafront promenade it is ideally placed whether you are just calling in for a drink around the new outdoor bar area whilst watching the beautiful sunset and people watching or making an evening of it by dining on some of the many menu options Kosede has to offer.
We have just returned from a hard morning’s shopping in Bodrum and although trawling through the hustle and bustle of the shopping streets and strolling around the beautiful marina and harbour front are thoroughly enjoyable occupations, by midday on a hot May morning (32 degrees actually!) as we head back home to Yalikavak thoughts are definitely turning to cold beer and warm food in a tranquil setting.
Bodrum’s Bars
Central Bodrum has a buzz about it whatever time of the day or night you visit. The narrow streets are filled with shops selling everything from leather, jewellery and clothing to local crafts and you can’t go far without being tempted in to buy something by the enthusiastic locals. In the evenings the city really comes alive though with hundreds of bars and restaurants heaving with locals and tourists. If you are mesmerised by the amount of places on offer perhaps our guide to Bodrum’s bars will help you out…
Palmarina Yalikavak
Palmarina in Yalikavak (previously known as ‘Port Bodrum Yalikavak’) is set to be the largest marina in Turkey when it is completed in May 2014. It is already pretty impressive with its state of the art design and berths for over 450 yachts (this will increase to over 700 berths when it has been completed). If you are lucky enough to be sailing into the marina on your private yacht you will have full access to all facilities. If, like most of us mere mortals, you will be arriving by foot then access to where the boats are moored is restricted. However, there is still plenty to look at.
