Holiday Cocktails

Most of us like to enjoy a cold drink while we are on holiday. If you fancy something a bit different why not try making your own cocktails for by the pool or before you head out to dinner? The simple cocktail recipes are easy to follow and they don’t use lots of ingredients so you should be able to pick up whatever you need from the local supermarket while you are on holiday… Enjoy and drink sensibly! Don’t forget to pack your cocktail shaker!

Margarita

Margarita Cocktail Drink

This is a personal favourite of mine as they are refreshing but the salt around the glass also give a real kick! It’s an easy one to make as well. If you are travelling to Florida you can get great Margaritas everywhere so cut out this hard work and just get it made for you!

Ingredients

  • 2 shots of tequila
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice and a lime wedge for garnishing
  • 1 shot triple sec
  • Sea salt for rimming the glass

Rim the edge of the glass with salt. Combine the lime juice, tequila and triple sec together in a shaker and shake for 10-15 seconds. Put plenty of ice into a glass and pour the contents of the shaker into the glass, garnish with the lime wedge.

Champagne Cosmopolitan

Champagne Cosmopolitan Cocktail

A bit of a twist on the usual Cosmo recipe if you fancy a bit of fizz is to add Champagne to the mix. Cava works just as well and can be picked up very cheaply in Spain so why not give that a go!

Ingredients

  • 1 shot citrus vodka
  • 1 dash of Cointreau (or another orange liqueur)
  • Cranberry juice
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Cava or Champagne

Shake the vodka, cointreau, cranberry juice and lime juice over ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a chilled champagne flute (optional!) and top up with your Cava or Champagne. Garnish with the orange zest.

Mojito

Mojito Cocktail

The mojito has always been a firm favourite on cocktail menus. The mint makes it really refreshing and if you want to add a bit of extra to this why not muddle up some raspberries too, delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • Squeeze of lime juice
  • A handful of mint leaves (with stalks on as these are vital for the flavour of the drink)
  • Ice
  • Soda water, to serve
  • 2 Shots of white rum
  • A dash of bitters
  • Lime slices, to serve

Put the sugar in the bottom of a glass and pour the lime juice over just to cover it. Add 2 sprigs of mint leaves and muddle these together. Add ice to the top of the glass and fill it two thirds full of soda water. Add the rum and a dash of bitters. Serve with lime slices.
