I have been travelling over to the Costa del Sol for around the last 15 years. There is so much to do along this stretch of coast that each time I go I seem to discover somewhere new. My short trip last week was no exception. Although I was there for a friend’s wedding at the very swanky Don Carlos Beach Resort in Marbella I had a few days either side of the ceremony to chill out and top up my tan. Here are just a few of the new things I discovered on my latest trip…
First ever remains of the Bronze Age are discovered in Mijas!
Do you find history fascinating? Hire a Mijas Villa, hop on a plane and discover the history surrounding the area and in Mijas. Archaeological excavations have begun in the wall of Mijas Pueblo by the Department of Heritage Hall of Mijas. They have discovered artefacts dating back to the Bronze Age, the first listed on the Costa del Sol- it is believed to be an axe and sixteen pieces of ceramic. The findings are proving that human settlements were in Mijas way before historical data shows.

Throughout the year there are many festivals that are celebrated, One being the Feast of Nuestra Señora de Gracia (Our Lady of Grace).
I flew to Spain this morning for my friend’s wedding in Marbella in 2 days time. I have to say I wasn’t looking forward to Travelling to Malaga in Peak Season with the endless airport queues and screaming kids that the school holidays bring!
Tour Mijas in a fun way! Either riding on the donkey or being pulled along in a carriage. This is the local taxi service known as a “Burro.”
You can’t visit Mijas without a ride in a Burro.
