Yalikavak on Turkey’s Bodrum Peninsula has transformed over the last few years with the development of the multi-billion pound marina which has attracted more visitors than ever to this beautiful seaside resort. Another new addition which is great for families is the Pirates of the Cactus Waterpark that is located just 3km from the centre of Yalikavak in Tilkicik Bay.
The waterpark is in fact part of the Cactus Holiday Resort but it is open to the public daily so you don’t need to stay there to enjoy all the fun it has to offer. Previously, holidaymakers staying in Yalikavak who wanted to spend the day at a waterpark would have had to get the bus or a taxi to Ortakent, around 20 minutes’ drive from the town.
This new, state of the art waterpark is in a totally different league to the old park in Ortakent with over 4500 square metres of rides and attractions on offer. There is a large children’s pool for younger children, a wave pool, freeform swimming pool and even water aerobics session going on!
The slides are the main attraction and highlights include the Navigator, a huge 135m slide shaped like an anaconda which you can shoot down individually or as a pair; The Tunnel Freefall, a short sharp shock of a ride in complete darkness; the Kamikaze, a high speed drop; and the Multislide where you can race against your neighbour to reach the bottom first!
There is so much to do at the park and there is also plenty of space to just relax and soak up the sun if you wish. The entrance fees for the park are also very reasonable as rates include all drinks and meals for the day. Adults pay 100TL (around £26) during the week, or 125TL (£32) at the weekend. Kids under 6 go free at any time and children aged 7 to 18 pay 70TL (£18) or 80TL (£21) at weekend. The park is open from mid-May to 30 September, 10:30 to 19:00 and food and non-alcoholic drinks are served from 11:00 to 17:30 so you really do get your money’s worth in terms of being able to eat as much as you want.
The only extras you may need some cash for are the locker deposit (10TL), use of WiFi, purchasing pictures or buying souvenirs from the ‘Pirate Boutique.’
This is a fantastic day out if you are staying in Yalikavak, or anywhere nearby. The kids will love it and there is plenty to keep the adults entertained too. View our Villas and Apartments in Yalikavak today and plan your trip to this brilliant new waterpark this summer.
