Fuengirola has an amazing choice of fabulous restaurants, some of the best being the traditional Spanish Bodegas. By definition a Bodega is a cellar or shop selling wine and food, something that Spain does awfully well I’m sure you would agree? Here we have picked some of our very favourite Bodegas in the wonderful seaside resort of Fuengirola.
Bodega Charolais
This lovely, modern restaurant has several different options for dining. There is a pretty outside terrace for the warmer months, a cosy indoor dining area and another room specifically for tapas. The food is a combination of Andalucian and Basque which creates a refreshing alternative to the standard Spanish fare. Whichever you choose you’re sure to enjoy mouth-watering meal in a perfect environment.
Where to find it: Calle Larga
Open: 1-4pm and 7.30-11.45pm.
Bodega El Toston
Another stunning eatery with a much more traditional feel, you’ll find a lot of locals eating here which is always an indication of a good restaurant. The food here is simple and traditional with a great choice of meat and fish dishes and outstanding wine. The tapas here are divine and a great way to try lots of different things if you aren’t used to Spanish food. Do stop by if you get a chance, if only for a small plate of ham and cheese and a delicious glass of wine.
Where to find it: Calle San Pancracio
Open: 1pm-1am
Bodega Gourmet La Nave
This is also quite a traditional looking restaurant but don’t let that put you off, often the more old-fashioned the place, the better the food with recipes having been passed down through the generations. Here they have a wonderful range of ‘pinxtos’, food on sticks, such as salmorejo and anchovy and huge prawns. The outside terrace is a great place to grab a glass of delicious wine and a tapa or two and inside you can sit down to a hearty home-made stew, meat or seafood dish.
Where to find it: Avienda de los Boliches
Open: 8am-12am
Bodega La Venencia
This multi-roomed restaurant is a fabulous place to take a group of friends or family for the evening. The wine is outstanding and the tapas are varied and always delicious. The service here is quite special and you’re always made to feel comfortable and at home. The main meals here are also fresh and tasty, there is nothing pretentious about the food here, it’s just good, comforting, home-cooked food and who doesn’t love that?
Where to find it: Avienda Ramon y Cajal
Open: 1pm-12am
Bodega la Solera
This pretty restaurant has a traditional feel but with modern facilities making a cosy and charming setting in which to enjoy amazing food. You can choose to sit at the beautiful bar for tapas or in the intimate dining area to partake in some truly amazing wine and food. The menu del dia is very reasonable for what you get and never disappoints. A real Spanish experience in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Where to find it: Calle del Capitan
Open: 7.30pm until late.
Hopefully this will help you to choose some delightful places to eat while on your holiday in Fuengirola and if you aren’t staying in a villa nearby you should certainly take a trip to Fuengirola to sample some of the many wonderful restaurants there.
